Solar Array

Migis Lodge has had a 912 panel solar array since 2018. The electricity it produces offsets 92% of the lodge’s usage, including LED lighting, heat pumps in the accommodations, and the vital kitchen equipment. Just think! Stirring up dough for about 25,000 chocolate chip cookies annually.

Most of the property here at Migis is shaded, so our array is in Rockland, Maine, at the site of a former gravel pit. Through net metering, our electric bills are offset by the array, 90 miles away. We can continue to enjoy our forested and shady 125 acres here at Migis while a sunny area in Rockland keeps us powered up.

EV Chargers & Heat Pumps

In 2024 we completed our installation of super efficient heat pumps to add to your comfort in our three seasons of yearly operation. These units provide heat, air conditioning, and dehumidification to ensure your cottage is the perfect temperature for you.

Ready to resume your travels on Maine’s scenic roads? Recharge your electric or hybrid vehicle right here at our stations. 

Another note; wherever possible on our property we have eliminated or greatly reduced the use of disposable goods.

Composting Food Waste

The three sumptuous meals per day that are included in your rates come from our busy kitchen, where compostable food waste is gathered then collected by Agri-Cycle Energy, a vertically integrated food waste recycling company. What comes from the earth returns there. We compost on average 150 tons of food waste per year!
