Migis walkabout

Quiet here in the office, but plenty of activity afoot.  Tim is helping out in the laundry, Ian is working on the railing around the dining room deck, Jed is arranging training for new staff.  Willow has been here planting on this cool, sparkly day and Joan is figuring out when she can get the painters into Sunset.  Sarah is on the phone with our transportation partners, and Robyn is especially focused, putting the finishing touches on Julia and Andrew’s upcoming weekend wedding plans and labeling that folder ready!

Colby has ushered out the last of an annual corporate group, accountants from Portland.  We’re always pleased to welcome their June event and to hear their satisfaction with the meeting arrangements, meals, boat rides, accommodations.  “See you next year, Colby!”

Wandering down to the venerable swing that Gene and Grace Porta installed in 68, I wonder how many marriage proposals have taken place there.  AND I just waded into the lake!  Come on in; the water’s fine!  I dove in over the weekend; my first dive of the summer on Saturday afternoon, followed by another for good measure on Sunday morning at 7.  There’s nothing like that first dive of the year–I do love it, though I’m not as adventurous as Phil was back in, when, March?

June is entering like a lamb

A quiet day here after a busy weekend!  The Barn at Cry of the Loon opened for the season with lots of interesting new merchandise.  Our brother chef Bryan up at the Inn at Ocean’s Edge http://www.diningattheedge.com/ shared a recipe on New England Cable Television yesterday.  We said goodbye to Anna and Owen after their beautiful Memorial Day weekend wedding (I particularly liked their place cards, made up on a typewriter–we all have our favorite details!).  The guy from the fireworks company stopped by to confirm our show right here at the main dock July 3.  What else?  A light rain is falling on our thirsty plant life, and Willow is out tending to the gardens.  A new finish is being applied to the dining room floor.  Robyn is updating her next couple of wedding folders, and Sarah is fielding reservation phone calls.  Jeanie is choosing a new carpet for the wellness center waiting area–and I think I’ll run down to Lake House and take a few pictures.  Care to come along?

Still some nice openings; give us a call!  207-655-4524

Whew!

It is such a fun time of year!  After all the meetings and planning sessions and lists and anticipation we are watching Robyn’s work come to fruition!  Wedding time; we have already had the pleasure of witnessing Alicia and Ryan, Miguel and Lindsay, as well as Alison and Jason start their married lives here on the shores of Sebago Lake.  A lot of staff, returning and new, have arrived and unpacked their bags and been put right to work.  The kitchen is turning out beautiful meals, as satisfying to look at as they are to eat.   Flowers are blooming, the housekeeping staff has polished away all vestiges of winter—we are ready and up and running!

Good thing Scott has been handy with his iPhone for a few pictures; others, so far, are being enjoyed by their subjects.  Send some along to migismary@live.com if you’d like to share!

Still some choice openings available for the season.  Give Robyn or Scott a call at 207-655-4524 to inquire about reservations.  And have a look at our new website; we’re not remodeling buildings only this year!

Just who is Elizabeth Lawrence?

“Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn.”
-   Elizabeth Lawrence

That Elizabeth sure knows what she’s talking about.  Kate and Kris, newlyweds four days now, lingered on an extra day and night here at Migis Lodge after their Saturday wedding.  Who wouldn’t, given the opportunity and time!  They’ve had the full spectrum of weather——–agreeable Friday, wet Saturday, spectacular Sunday and a couple of calm honeymoon days———–all enhanced by the magnificent October foliage and comfortable temperatures.

We here at Migis pause in our daily activities to appreciate and enjoy the glory of October days.  Come join us some time!

Mary

p. s.  Elizabeth Lawrence was a celebrated Southern (that’s okay) gardener and writer who died in 1985.  Didn’t want to leave you wondering.

Two by two, in the fall…………..

http://whatsforlunchdot.com/2009/06/12/the-devil-eats-huevos/

Now that October is here, thoughts and planning return to upcoming Migis Lodge weddings.  Robyn is busy finishing up details on the four events that will take place here at the end of the month.  With our natural setting, fabulous food and accommodations, and unparalleled fall sunsets, there is no better place than Migis to tie the knot.  But don’t take our word for it–see what Meredith has to say along with her Juevos Diablo remarks!  And have a look at our own Amy and Phil on their special day.

Lakeside romance……….

Robyn, our office manager and go-to person about weddings, is hearing from a number of her bridal couples now that they are back from their honeymoons AND hearing from their friends and families.  Wow!  We enjoy our wedding season here at Migis Lodge (early May through mid-June, and the weekends after Columbus Day until the very end of October) and welcome inquiries from those looking for a lovely Maine wedding.  Click here for a look at one of last month’s events———we appreciate their attention to our efforts!
