The clap of the hammer is the only sound cutting through the pines today.
The clap of the hammer is the only sound cutting through the pines today. We began the Daybreak project with the messy demolition phase. With Joan’s instruction and incredible design and decorating sense, we will vault the ceilings and enlarge the bedroom, living room, and particularly the bathroom, while allowing the cottage will maintain it’s cozy feel.
Colby and I have been remodeling cottages together for 6 years. Our hope is that this will be our best yet. Adam, Ian, and Jed are pitching in so we have plenty of man power on the job. The strong backs will come in handy when it’s time to lift the heavy ridge beams for the vaulted ceilings, not to mention all the new furnishings.
I will be sure to keep all those interested up to date on our progress, so keep checking the blog. It’s the look of excitement on your faces when you arrive that keeps us warm and moving on these cold days. It got up to 5 degrees today, if you don’t count the wind. We keep the fire going in the fieldstone fireplace for warming our tools and more importantly our hands. Turns out that I can see my ice fishing traps on the lake from the living room window….bonus.
