We began week 2 of the Daybreak remodeling by standing up the walls in the new master-suite addition. It is going to be gorgeous with high vaulted ceilings and an enormous window looking right over the beach to the lake.
It has been very cold this week, and as you can see the wind blows right through the cottage at this point. We work as long as we can bear it, then we all retreat to the fireplace that we keep burning all day. Tomorrow we are going to finish getting all the roof rafters put up, so that on Monday morning we can begin to sheathe the building. It will be much welcome protection from the icy winds.
My dog, Winnie, whom some of you may have met, has been on the scene supervising everyday. She's tough on us, but our work reflects her devotion to the project. I will have more pictures next week, the cottage will really start to take shape in the next few days when we finish the walls, roof, and wrap-around covered deck.
That's all for now, stay tuned,
Phil, Colby, Adam, Ian, and Winnie Cooper
P.S. An additional note, all toilets, showers, baths, sinks, and any other reusable fixtures are all donated to Habitat for Humanity
